Skyharbor is a mix-up of a story driven RPG and a Side view classic fighter game.

The Cyberworld

The cyberworld is a version of what would be the internet in this era.  In the cyberworld, individuals can cast their avatars into it to perform tasks for them.

There are a few individuals, however, which can actually cast their whole being into this world becoming the avatar they chose.  Skye is one of these beings, and though they are considered witches to others.

These "witches", as others consider them, are persecuted as deviants in the world, and treated as second class citizens, thugs, and devils.

Fighter Style Combat

Skyharbor will feature an unique combination of classic side view beat 'em up games with an RPG element incorporated into the combat.  This combination of mechanics is designed to fit with the anime aesthetic as well as provide a different experience for the player.

The game combat occurs over two different zones:  The real world, and the Cyberworld.  Both have a similar mechanic, with some slight variations.  Combat Chips can be used to boost the performance in the cyberworld, while cyberwares are used for real world combat.  Balancing the two kinds of equipment add a new facet to the complexity of the game.

Voice Overs

Skyharbor features English subtitles with short, simplistic phrases of Japanese voicings.  The mixture of the two produces a unique and immersive world in which the player can feel like they are truly part of the anime world in which Skye resides.

Each character has it's own unique portrait to act as a visual representation in the conversation panels.

Puzzles

Things within the cyberworld affect what occurs in the real world.  This produces a new degree of complexity in puzzles.

Though the game is not designed to be heavily puzzle influenced, they do play a key part in some of the game flow and world design.

The Characters

The player takes control of Skye, a cyberhacker in Neon Tenko CIty.  Amongst some strange disappearances in the Slum Districts, she finds herself the focus of some seemingly unprovoked attacks.

Each character in skyharbor comes with its own image, avatar and voices.  There are many ways to influence the reactions of individuals, producing variations in the responses the player will receive.

Good and Evil

Having many RPG elements to the game, Skyharbor incorporates an old good and evil system, seen frequently in the RPG genre in the 2000's.  The good and evil system developed in Skyharbor utilizes a reaction based influence over NPCs.  They ultimately will change how they feel about Skye and adjust what they say, or won't even talk to her at all anymore.

This system is designed to allow multiple variations to the dialogue, and allow the player to have a freedom of how they want to play.

The good/evil system not only influences the way NPCs will respond, but the players overall coloring.

Game Perspectives

The cameras in Skyharbor utilize a number of traditional and new aged camera management techniques.

Most cameras are strategically placed cameras with fixed locations around the world.  However, these cameras also include panning cameras, cameras that track the players movement, and side scroll cameras.

The cameras are vital to both allowing the player to explore new areas which are cleverly hidden, and discovering secret items in corners just out of sight.
